About the International Association of Infant Massage (IAIM)
The purpose of IAIM is to promote nurturing touch and communication through training, education and research so that parents, caregivers and children are loved, valued and respected throughout the world community.
The IAIM was founded by Vimala McClure. Its theory, curriculum and focus are unique and have been carefully developed since being introduced in 1976. The first instructor was trained by Vimala in 1978. It is an international, non-profit making, organisation which is now represented worldwide, in more than 30 countries.
Vimala developed this infant massage programme through careful research and practical experience, incorporating Indian and Swedish massage strokes, with some ideas from reflexology and yoga.
Vimala has written a book "Handbook for Loving Parents" which is essential reading for anyone who is interested in training to be an infant massage instructor or who wishes to find out more about the subject so that they can learn how to massage their own baby.
